Photoshop Challenge

Idea

Some Ideas I had in mind were the original landscape idea, where the man had a forest on his head and branches on his shirt. Another idea I had was a city, but I thought it would be to hard and complicated so I went with the more simpler option.

Process

I started with the hair because I already had a idea in mind on how to do it. First thing was just using the quick selection tool to select the hair and such. The shirt was a bit harder to do, with the folds and creases of the shirt itself was hard to show in the end.

Blending Mode, Masks & Adjustment Layers

I didn't use many blending modes except for a drop shadow for the hair to make it pop out more and to make it seem more 3D rather than a 2D object. I used a lot of masks for this project, I used three in total, one for cutting the hair, cutting the image for the hair, and cutting the shirt. Adjustments layers I used moderately, brightening of the roots, brightening of the picture itself, and hue/saturation for the picture too.

Finished Product

The finished product turn very similarly to my vision, Not exactly though. The hair i'm not entirely happy with. The hair isn't as smooth looking and I wanted but it works for what it is. If I were to improve something it would be the hair look itself. But I ending up being very happy with the shirt and roots look.

Photoshop Video Lessons 1

The Video Lessons

Being assigned to watch video lessons on how photoshop worked and how the tools worked seemed, pretty boring at first. Just following a video and copying what he does. But it turned out to be pretty useful. They showed some stuff more in-depth than usual but I was fine with that.

After Watching the Videos

After watching the videos I learned a lot of stuff I never knew about photoshop. The patch tool being an easy to use tool to fix small mistakes but doesn't have a perfect outcome, usually. Clone stamp tool, took a patch of the picture and copied it to the place you pasted it, can look good with the right spot. Spot healing brush and healing brush tools are very similar but spot healing brush has you choose the spot you copy from similar to the clone stamp tool. The videos didn't seem difficult, you just copied what the guy did on the video and called it good.

What I Could Use in the Future

The spot healing brush or the clone stamp tool are very useful tools in the photoshop arsenal. Ive used photoshop before at home and in e9 and the most useful tools i've found are the lasso tools, you can select and deselect any part of the image and copy it or cut it or just add it to another layer. But in the end the video were still very helpful to get used to the software.

Conclusion

The videos were very helpful to get used to the program and the tools that we can use in future projects. The videos weren't that hard but the last lesson was very long and slow but that lesson was bigger than the rest.

4th Quarter Reflection

Smart Lens & Challenges

Smart Lens was apart of a project that was about making a product then marketing and selling the product. The project took the entirety of fourth quarter. Some challenges we faced is finishing the rotations work in time. We learned communication, collaboration, project management, and teamwork. Many people thought it was based off the google glass, my answer to that is yes it was until it got better. We changed the Smart Lens to more business and gaming related than for everyone. Fourth quarter was an okay experience my group was an amazing group and i'm glad to be apart of their team.

Time Usage

I created the glasses model, part of the website, and a commercial but it wasn't acceptable by my group members. When I finished my work early I asked what else I could do but that rarely happened because I usually finished my work at the last day or the day before the last day. During the Video rotation we went to the green screen room to shoot some videos after school but that was basically it for after school.

Areas of Strength

Strengths for me during the project was modeling the glasses and the video production were I think were my strengths.

Areas of Improvement

Bad Actor in the morning was a HUGE negative thing about the whole commercial but other than that it was pretty good.

Summary

I loved the video portion of this quarter and editing together the commercial. I wouldn't change much because I think we did pretty well for our project. I've learned how to use adobe illustrator, dreamweaver, premiere, and finally sketchup. Goal for next year is to perfect my projects more so people see me as who I am rather than who I want to be. Nothing much for final thoughts but the project was really enjoyable and my group members were also pretty nice and cool.

CSS and CARP Design

Overview

The project was over how to make a website, and how CSS and CARP can make a website better. The HTML we started with had a poem written about a dog. One HTML file had no CARP or CSS and after we finished the HTML file was packing in cool design and amazing colors. The information is stored in the code in the HTML file.

Contrast

The project had overall good contrast. The black background with the almost white page made the text on the page, pop out. The text color also was good, the tan color works both on white and black backgrounds which made the text easy to read. The brown text in the poem works well on the white, which is fine.

Alignment

The poem text was lined up overall which was pretty good to read and look at. The poem text also lines up with the author text which gives the page an professional feel. The title heading and subheading pretty much end and start at the same point. The only bad alignment was the dog being out of the white page, which looked a bit weird.

Repetition

The colors overall were mostly repeated which looked nice across the paper. The poem text color was consistent but the text font really wasn't. The link text and the author text are the same which gives the page not many colors which makes it more simple and better to look at. The header has a darker tone than the author text but it gives it a more pop than the lighter tan.

Proximity

Not much I can say about grouping, not that it was bad but their isn't much to talk about. The text grouping was nice and easy to read, no random spacing. The header and sub header was also nice and grouped in the center so its the first thing you read when you see the page.

Overall

CSS can make your page look a lot better in many ways. CARP can help make a plain ol' blank page into a colorful, professional, masta' piece. I've learned how to mess with a pages components and how to make them look better. Color is one of the main components, next to font, to make a page a heck of a ton better.

My Personality type

ESTP

ESTP is short for Extravert, sensing, Thinking, and Perceiving. ESTPs are people who have dynamic energy. They solve problems quickly and respond to new problems with practical solutions. ESTPs are often athletes but since i'm not an athlete I guess I don't fit in that category. ESTPs are recognized by their energy but that doesn't entirely fit me. ESTPs make up 4% of the population, 6% of men, and 3% of women.

Does it fit me?

Not that well, while most parts are right on. Things that don't fit well is the lowest GPA, being in a sport. But things that do fit me well is the center of attention, and wants things fast-paced. I cant say it doesn't fit me perfectly, after reading some others, I think this has the best fit for me. Even on the test it says I have 1% thinking so maybe I was barely put in that category.

Does it make since?

Not really, it didn't change how I saw myself or how I was doing certain things but in my opinion, written tests cant describe every single human on earth, while it might do some, or a lot, it can never be able to do all. But some parts did fit me, while it wasn't as much as I hoped.

What does it mean?

Being an ESTP means that I am a promoter, which I honestly don't really see, but what do I know? If I was in a team with my personality types i'd probably just be jocks, due to all of the sports in all of the ESTP articles. But you cant really assume who your going to get based off an article. You can have a rough idea but not me certain.

Other People?

The only thing i've been misunderstood for in my past was trying to be in the center of attention, even though I wasn't even trying to be. But other than that nothing really caught my eye to what I was misunderstood about. Other things I can think of is just me doing something stupid and getting made fun of for it, while I don't blame them, because lets be honest if I was in that situation id be doing the same.

What did you Learn?

I learned a bit about the reason for how I act. While it wasn't much it did show me some things. But for the most part I really didn't learn much. I don't think I was in the wrong category I just think that there cant be 16 types of people in the world.

What I received on the test

What an ESTP is

Famous ESTPs'

LOBGR test

This test fit me better than the other test. After completing the test I got an Beaver. This means i'm organized, and if they want something done right they do it themselves. While it says I should be a perfectionist, which i'm not, so thats the only thing that seems wrong. Other than that I think this was a good test for me, and I still think 4 traits can't fit into 7 billion people. But thats just me.

AB Sequence

Creative Process

When we started out this project the idea was to have a student be lost in the school building trying to find their class. We wanted to make the student go around the entire school but once we finished filming some parts had to be cut out because of timing. Since we had 4 people in our group and only 1 actor from that 4 people the rest of us just thought of ideas for shots because there wasn't anything else we could do. Once we finished filming we nailed most shots while other shots took a bit, and things didn't look bad so I was happy with our videos. Editing was a struggle, time was the problem mostly, We had to have the video within 1 minute and with 3 and 1/2 minutes of unedited video, it was going to be hard. But it worked out fine.

Role and processes

One key decision I guess was when we decided to do a student being lost instead of anything else. But really most of the time it was just shooting videos and maybe an idea or two coming from someone, but overall everyone was involved in the process. My role was going to be half cameraman but we tried to cram all of the filming in one day so it was difficult, but we did it, so I guess I was the person who makes sure everything is in check.

Different/Same

The only thing I would do differently is the idea for this video, the video ended it up to be too long and we couldn't use all shots which made the video seem a bit weird. Other than that id do all the things the same, and the experience of knowing how long your video is will really help me make my next project.

Conclusion

The video was really fun to make, while most of my time was editing and we only spent really one day filming, it was fun. My group members we're helpful and on task which was nice. But since the video was filmed in one day I got the video done really fast and had a lot of free time.

How to Print a Document Video

Creative Process

When we started out we used a piece of paper to lay out our 6 scenes and what shot we were going to use in them. Once we had an idea on what to do we went straight out and started recording scenes. Their wasn't really any script on what to say since the only sound would be music. Roles for the project was that I would be the actor and Drew would film the video. During the editing phase we went to talk to see what each other had found out about the program and what the other person could use to make their film better. One thing we did miss out on was the fact we needed to shoot extra sho

Role and processes

There wasn't any real key decisions made with the group, while the entire group was involved the decisions we made were all things we agreed with and but maybe using the knuckles at the end was a key decision. My role in the entire project was being the actor, well other than editing my own video. I also learned on how to use and edit videos in adobe premiere. How to edit, cut, paste, and delete video clips and audio clips. I also learned how to communicate when doing thing type of projects to my partner or group.

Different/Same

If I had to do something different about this project, id probably make longer shots so I have more to work with an no cutaways, while I didn't have any cutaways I was close to having some. I would do most stuff the same except for the short clips, most of what I did seemed the easiest for me. Most of the experiences that I did during this project I will replicate on a similar project.

Conclusion

This project was a cool and fun project, it wasn't like other projects but it was enjoyable and was fun to set up and film these shots and edit the video in the end. Especially choosing the music and what to do in the shot.
